This weeks P.O.W goes to Vinny for his prediction of Wigan 1 - Liverpool 1. Vinny scored all 5 points, Martin and Lucas scored 2 points, while Bob Steven and Psycho all scored 0 points.
Rafa Benitez has gone mental, and the sad/funny (depending on where you're from) thing is that its costing Liverpool the title. Without a win in three games, Liverpool have fallen from 1st to 3rd, and where they could once rely on their captain and best player Steven Gerrard to pull this very average squad out of trouble (like he has done so many times before), Stevie G will have bigger things on his mind over the next few months, like his impending court case and learning how to make a shiv out of a toothbrush. Wigan on the other hand are great. A side with no history, a small fan base and a pitch that gets torn up every week by a rugby team, Wigan should be somewhere in League Two right now, but they continue to defy the preconceived notion of what a Premiership club should be. They lost two of their best players in Heskey and Palacios this month, but they continue to get results. While the appointment of Steve Bruce was mocked and ridiculed at first, it has proven in the last two years to be a master stroke by chairman Dave Whelan. Bruce has built a side with a great mixture of young flair and experienced grafters. The only challenge Steve Bruce faces now is not losing any more players before the end of the transfer window and getting the best out of new signing Hugo Rodallega, who was once listed as a better potential talent than a certain Lionel Messi.
Vinny has revived his near dead march towards the title with this emphatic win. He was almost catchable before this weekend. Without a win in five weeks and with Martin and Lucas finally getting their respective acts together it seemed like it could of been a 3 horse race. But the true test of a champion is how they react when the chips are down, and if this week is any indication Vinny is a true champion.
Kudos to you Vinny, Kudos.
