This Weeks Winner Is Matthew Dyche & Wayne Roberts

If you were POW you'd be great by now! You would also be drunk, leary and riddled with venereal diseases. Firstly POW has just seen an advert for someone called Ellie Golding and christ she's more nose than person! Anyway on with the show, POW has never come last before (except in the boudoir! Oh!) so this weeks column is foreign territory. As the battle to avoid bottom intensifies POW feels it would be prudent for POW to take you on a journey back in time, to a time before iPhones and global recession, where Lady Gaga is still a dude and went by the name of Laddie Goo Goo. The year is 2007 and The Predicta League was in its infancy, while at the top of the table Lucas was crafting a legacy that would never be topped. Young Gary Capewell was propping up the table in an effort that was at best shambolic and at worst down right illegal. Vinny wasn't around in the first week so was given 1-0 for every game. This mean't he started the season at a disadvantage that he would never be able to recover from and ultimately lead him to becoming the first ever winner of the Predicta League Wooden Spoon. If fact his performance was so memorable that the Wooden Spoon was soon renamed the "Gary Capewell Wooden Spoon". Fast forward a year and pluckless newcomer Psycho would spend the lion share of the 2008/09 season in last place. In fact if it wasn't for a miraculous turn around coinciding with a bad run of form for Bob, Psycho would of almost certainly ended up with the spoon. As it was 2007/08 runner up Bob became the second person to come bottom. The reason POW is reciting this history is to remind you that while who finished top will always get the headlines the fight to avoid bottom is just as intriguing.

Nobody wants to finish bottom, in fact its the exact opposite of what people want. With only 10 weeks left to save there skins, it seems the penny has dropped for Dyche and Wayne. Dyche picked up a huge win last week and now Wayne has responded in kind. Will it be Wayne or Dyche that finishes bottom? Who knows but if they keep up the form of the last 2 weeks don't rule out some one else getting dragged into a fight they really don't want.

Round of Applause for Dyche and Wayne
